Dr. Umut Uludag received the B.Sc. (1999) and M.Sc (2001) degrees in Electrical & Electronics Engineering at Bogazici University, Istanbul. He was a researcher at Information Technologies Institute, Marmara Research Center, between 1999-2001. After obtaining his Ph.D. (2006) degree in Computer Science and Engineering, at Michigan State University, USA, he worked at Lumidigm Inc., New Mexico, for 3 years. He was also with Symbol (New York), NIST (Maryland), Siemens (New Jersey), and Intel (California).

Currently, he is a senior researcher at TUBITAK-BILGEM-UEKAE (National Research Institute of Electronics and Cryptology). His research interests include biometrics, pattern recognition, watermarking, image & signal Processing, and cryptography.

He is the puzzlemaster/author for "SifreSayar" (CipherCounter) section in UEKAE Journal, and monthly "Online Cryptology Puzzles" section in UEKAE website.
