I am a professor of computer science and head of department at the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand. My background is in mathematics, particularly in algebra, combinatorics, and logic. My main research interest at present is in the area of combinatorics known as "permutation patterns", but have a long standing side interest in combinatorial games.
