Please note: I share a name with a very famous mathematician who writes wonderful books and also with many others - it's a common name. However I am a musician but did study mathematics seriously at school.

I have always been fascinated by numbers and study classical composers who use number series, random techniques and symbolic numbers. I rarely use these techniques myself in compositions. I also question the commonly held view that mathematics and music are intimately related.
