Born 26 August 1928, Portsmouth, VA BA, 1954, MA 1956, University of Virginia, further study at Univ. of N.C. and Coll. of William and Mary Professor Emeritus of Mathematics, West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV. Taught full-time at WVU 49 years (1958-2007) Author of 200 mathematical research papers in 15 countries. Author of the book "Combinatorial Identities", 1959, second edition 1972, listing 500 binomial identities. Fellow of American Association for the Advancement of Science 1964. Honorary Fellow of the Institute for Combinatorics and its Applications. Currently collaborating with Dr. Jocelyn Quaintance on a multivolume web-based tutorial about series and combinatorics.
