Since 2016, Dr. Joost VandeVondele is associate director and head of the scientific software and libraries unit at CSCS, ETHZ.
He has been Assistant Professor of Nanoscale Simulations at the Department of Materials Science, ETHZ 2011-2016.
He has been senior assistant at the univeristy of Zurich, 2005-2011.
He has a MSc in engineering physics, obtained at the university of Ghent, Belgium, including a stay at EPFL. He obtained his PhD from the ETHZ in 2001, followed by stays as postdoctoral researcher at the university of Zurich, and as a Marie-Curie Fellow at the University of Cambridge, UK.
