Substitution

Of course the substitution vs. transclusion argument affects all templates and other transcluded pages, not only this template. But I still hope to get rid of this template: Unlike mostly harmless ToC-right templates {{Page title}} tries to overrule too many complex MediaWiki features, e.g., existing non-default style sheets with other ideas for the general page layout.  Check out various skins under preferences. Old browsers might need a standard or simple skin, and some users could create their own skin based on myskin. –Frank Ellermann 06:52, 21 April 2011 (UTC)

<h1>...</h1> instead of <h2>...</h2>

Should we use a <h1>...</h1> header for page title? = {{{1}}} = instead of == {{{1}}} == — Daniel Forgues 00:55, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

It's already rather odd on pages such as Welcome, CiteA, and especially Style Sheet: The Wiki Software creates a h1 header based on the name of the page. The title magic is apparently not enabled, the title for Welcome is just "Welcome", not what the template wants. IOW, does this template actually do anything useful at the moment? More than one h1 on a page is generally wrong, you could in theory try == <span style="font-size:larger">…</span> == or similar. HTML5 will kill it, but you could also try == <big>…</big> == if the wiki software allows it:

Okay, apparently it does, simpler than the span style stuff while it is still permitted. But what's the idea, wouldn't it be simpler to move page AAA to BBBB if you like BBBB better than AAA? –Frank Ellermann 00:36, 15 August 2011 (UTC)
