Positive numbers are real numbers that are more than 0. Positive numbers may be written prefixed with a plus sign, but this is usually understood and left out. A positive number is its own absolute value.

A positive number has two square roots, one a positive number and the other a negative number, e.g., $7^{2}=(-7)^{2}=49$.
