Lily Yen received her B.Sc. in mathematics from Simon Fraser University, B.C., Canada and her Ph.D. under Herbert S. Wilf's supervision from the University of Pennsylvania. She held a two-year NSERC postdoctoral fellowship under David M. Jackson's supervision at the Department of Combinatorics and Optimization in the University of Waterloo. She has been a part-time mathematics faculty at Capilano University since 2000, and does research in enumeration at S.F.U.

Lily enjoys playing the piano with fellow chamber musicians. Other than mathematics and music, she loves cooking, gardening, travelling, and hiking.
