Octavian Cira is Professor, with a Ph.D. in Mathematics, specialist in Numerical Analysis, founding Dean of the School of Exact Sciences (2003–2008) of "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad. He is the author of the monograph "Numerical Solving the of Algebraic Equations" published by the Romanian Academy in 2005. Since 1998 he has promoted the mathematical software Mathcad in Romania by publishing several user manuals. On a national level, his monographs regarding the numerical analysis of numerical methods for nonlinear equations (2008) and at the simultaneous inclusion methods (2012) are well known. He is author of over 79 scientific papers, 61 in refereed journals or proceedings. He was researcher in three projects (started 1996, 2001, 2012). He is co-author of works from various related fields and also author of five digital art exhibitions (2000, 2007–2009, 2013). Before 1990 he has worked 11 years in informatics for industry, with results in research. His academic career included several collaborations with the School of Engineering.
