Sequences From Classic Books

From OeisWiki

  • For a long time I have had the idea of making a series of concordances which would list the integer sequences to be found in certain classical books.
  • The idea is that when you are reading one of these books, the concordance will give pointers to the On-Line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences (the OEIS) whenever an interesting sequence is mentioned. This will enable you to see the terms of the sequence, recurrences, formulae, other references, links, recent progress, etc.
  • Candidates for further concordances:
    • Philippe Flajolet and Robert Sedgewick, Analytic Combinatorics [Already mentions a few OEIS entries by A-number]
    • Michael D. Hirsshhorn, The Power of q, Springer, 2017
    • Donald E. Knuth, The Art of Computer Programming [Any volume or fascicle]
    • Richard P. Stanley, Catalan Numbers, Cambridge, 2015
  • The following books already included an index to relevant OEIS sequences when they were published:
    • R. K. Guy, Unsolved Problems in Number Theory, 3rd ed., Springer, 2010.
    • G. Nebe, E. M. Rains, and N. J. A. Sloane, Self-Dual Codes and Invariant Theory, Springer, 2006
